No, I can't find her either. There is a tree on Ancestry will an Ellen born 1873 in Chatham, marrying Wiliam Mellor of Bootle, Merseyside.

Any use?

Hi
I would like to give you the latest update, Southport GRO could not find the birth of Ellen Powell, born Chatham abt 1873 nor could Medway Archives and Local Studies Centre, but they have told me that there is an entry for an Ellen Powell aged 10, born Chatham, and living in Maidstone in the 1881 census. I have looked at the 1881 census but I cannot find it, I have sent Medway Archives an Email asking for more details, and keeping my fingers crossed that this is my Ellen.
Once again thank for all your help and advice,
Regards Charles

Hi Jonesey, Janet, Von and Birdsinanest
I have been in touch with the local register office, who done a search, no luck there, but they said the GRO in Southport, is my best bet, which I have done and they are doing a search but it takes 3 weeks.

Electoral rolls :- when you applied to go on the Electoral rolls, would you have to fill in a house hold form giving details of age ect of the people living at that house that where entiled to vote and do you think they are kept?

Hi,
Thanks for all the advice.
I have asked the local archive for a search, which has gone into the loop and should hear from them in about 3 weeks fingers crossed. I will also ask the local register office if they can do a search for me to morrow.

Hi,
I am looking for info that was required to register for electoral roll between 1920 and 1940, what were the question/details that you had to fill in to register.

Are they still kept somewhere, if so where, and can they be researched.
Thanks
Regards Charles
