Could any kind people advise what kind of work you would be doing if you were employer as a calendar worker?

I have googled it but nothing comes up as an occupation so I don't know if it meant some one who printed calendars etc (this is about 1820 - 1890.

I have three people employed in various places and at differing times as calendar workers and one who is noted as a calendar warehouse woman!

Thanks all,

Rachelle

From an old occupations site:-

Calender Worker, Calenderer or Calenderman - A person who operated a machine which pressed cloth and paper using two large rollers (calenders).

I found it on Google by putting the following into the search:-

calender worker+occupation+census

It depends on what you put into the search as to what results you get.

Calendering

When I was auditing a laundry group in the 1970s the term calendar was still in use.
