thanks for all the help and advice re divorce. i think it is the later years that i would actually have to look for ie late 1950,s or early 1960., i dont think i will be able to investigate further, but thanks once again

The more recent years [My experience is with divorces in 50,60 &70s] are not available for the public to search. The search has to be done by the Courts Service. Its also very expensive ~£50 - I think thats what I paid the last time.

The divorce records at Kew only go up to 1937.

can anyone tell me how to trace a divorce with only the names of the husband and wife - no idea what year they divorced- or what the reason was? year of marriage was 1947 and one of the partners remarried in 1961 . is there any chance of me tracing the date?
