Hi everyone,

Any chance someone out there can help me with an "occupation" that appears on an 1851 Scotland census for James Gilchrist aged 63 living in Crawford, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

His occupation in 1841 and 1861 is listed as Weaver, but in 1851 it's listed as Weaver - Inmates From Home.

Can anyone tell me what "Inmates From Home" was or tell me where I'm likely to find out?

Thanks,
Bree

Inmates from Home is actually under address and not occupation.( Perhaps it means they were from the workhouse in Crawford)
