Finding a burial place

You could contact the bereavement deprtment of the register office in the area where the relative died.
I was given a map by Southampton Register office of the exact place an ancestor was buried. I also had the original burial notification for my grand father's first wife.

I went to the cemeteries concerned - only to find they had been 'superceded'. Someone else was buried in/over their plot.
Seems to be a 'thing' now that grave plots only have a 33 year 'lifespan'!!
(excuse the pun)
However, I did find my g x 2 grandfather's grave intact in another cemetery.

Unfortunately my G x 6 grandfather's gravestone had been used as part of the pathway and worn away - I only recognised it as my gran had seen it in the 1960's and described it to me - he was a big man with a suitably gargantuan headstone.
After all (when I enquired) he was a commmoner buried in the grounds of an Abbey!! (ie what else could I expect!!)
- A bit more respect - he couldn't help dying before the new burial ground (specifically for commoners) was built!!

All you can try is to look at:

Where s/he died - not always the burial area, but worth checking the cemetaries in the area.

If unmarried, where was s/he born - likely to be buried in that area.

If husband/wife died in a certain area, that's another place to explore.

Hi guys

After you have found the death of a relative is there anyway of finding out where they are buried at all?
