site i may find out if someone died over seas in WW1 please, all i know is that he would have been in the light infantry, many thanks. donna.

check first on the CWGC site ,
you can find Military deaths on Find My Past,which is pay to view and order from the GRO stating its an overseas death when ordering Certs usually dont have much info on them other than killed in Action or died of wounds etc they dont go into details.

As Shirley infers, you can get a d.cert from the GRO for this guy, and FMP have the GRO ref for ordering, but there really isn't much info on the cert (apart from cause of death) that isn't on the CWGC site. If you want to see a WW1 war returns register, there's a free example page link at the foot of:

Naturally, given the source, this is for solders born or enlisting in Scotland, but the English registers are essentially identical.

Huge thankyou to you all, ive just discoverd a connection to a family mystery, that we could not workout prior to the records on ancestory, ive just found out so much info on him from infantry records, and discoverd my mum has been tracing the wrong william.
