Can someone plese tell me where I'm going wrong.

I have found Roy Kingston born 1898 in Barlow Chesterfield in the UK, Soldiers died in the Great War 1914-1919. Where do I find the records relating to his enlisting, personal details etc as I cannot find him in the Service Records which I thought I would have.

Can someone please put me right.

A lot of WW1 records were destroyed during WW2 so it is a bit hit and miss as to whether you find a service record and/or a medal card

Hi Glitter Baby,

Thank you for finding that for me. I'm relatively new to this, how do I get more information from that or is that not possible.

Chris

Not service records but there is this info from The War Graves Photographic Project
It shows his name engraved on the memorial, as he has no known grave.
You can obtain a photo of this, but they do ask for a donation of £3-00 for an emailed copy or £5-00 for a hard copies sent in the post, but they also send details of the cemetery etc.Its whether or not you want this sort of info

Here is the site link

Hi George,

Thank you so much for that. Do they only send details of the cemetry etc if you send for a hard copy of the photo.

You will receive the actual photograph of the panel where his name is, and i believe a close up photo of his engraved name.
but it might be worth contacting them to check about the close up
