Hi

Ive just found out that my Great grandmother was a Bounty widow back in 1870.

Can anyone tell me what a bounty widow was?

Thanks

All the Bounty widows on the 1881 census are in Portsea Hampshire.

So its likely the women are the wives of sailors who received a pension after their husbands died in action
