your are welcome . my problem was I had just renewed so their system couldnt cope with a 15 month subs .. Of course expecting me to remember a year later just wasnt going to happen ,I often go upstairs and cant remember why !!! lol

I phoned them and they have added the term to my membership, so I don't have to renew until 6 months later. Thanks for the tip!

when i bought my FTM with 3 months subs to Ancestry i had just renewed my subs .i rang Ancestry and they said they would make a note and to contact them again when my subs were due and they would give me the three months subs then . Unfortunately I forgot !!!

Well its done! My hubby bought me FTM2010 for christmas and it was a doddle to load on my laptop.

I can't believe how much the programe has changed since the FTM4 5 years ago. Its much more user friendly and you can do so much more with it.

I love the tasks tab. Now I don't forget where I left off with any individual. Remind myself which certificates I need to order and order them in batches! Great!

I have spent everyday since christmas inputting all my work from my manuel systems and it has really given me the inspiration to start up again (not done much in the last 6 months).

The only thing I haven't done is combine the ancestry link with my membershiip ancestry. Not sure what it involves and what others will see from my "new" tree. If anyone can explain how that works. FTM2010 gives you 6 months free access to ancestry, but I already have membership, so will I loose this? my ancestry membership renewal will be due in the nex month or so, would they add these 6 months onto it?

I'd love to hear everyone elses opinions on the FTM2010, just in case I can pull up some tips to use it to its maximum.

I had thought I would be better getting a new version. It has been a long time since I last used my old version, I tend to build my tree on GR these days, but keep in-depth info manually.

It would be nice to bring my own version up-to-date so I can print off trees for family members and present them.

Do you have any idea where the best place to purchase the 2010 version from would be? And what costs are involved?

Then, not being computer literate, I will have to fathom out how to download my old version to it!

Could someone give me some advice on upgrading my tree programe.

some 5 years ago, i bought family tree maker 4 for running in windows 2005-2008. Lots of info put into it. I then upgraded my computer to windows XP and was unable to use the old version of FTM4. Since then, I purchased a laptop a couple of years ago which runs on Vista and would like to bring my tree up-to dateon FTM4.

Can I upgrade it to vista so that I do not loose all the work which has gone into my tree, or will I have to buy a new compatable programe and start over again?

My birthday is coming up in December, and I will ask for a new programe if I cannot upgrade the one I have.
