Surname Summary Problem - Negative Numbers

ProfilePosted byOptionsPost Date

Mick in the Sticks Report 20 Nov 2009 05:44

For several days the Search Trees>Surname Summary facility has been showing large amounts of negative numbers against surnames for matches in other family trees, when the "Show activity for day(s) facility is set between 1-14 days.

I have not seen this problem before. Normally clicking on the number of matches indicated brings up a list of new names added within the last X numbers of days but where a negative number is shown, there is no link.

The Surname Summary facility is how I normally make first contact with new distant cousins adding matching surnames to their trees.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

I have the same problem, when I look at surnames in my tree, although it doesn't apply to all the surnames just a few of them

Me too - I haven't looked for a few days so wondered what had happened! Some of mine were coming up with minus 62 names which was exactly the number I had on my tree.

I thought at first that someone had deleted their tree.
Why should they show in names added?
I now feel that the programmer needs deleting!

Yes, there is something going on. There is probably some sort of database upgrade going on which involves rebuilding the x-ref indexes.

Has anyone asked GR what they think it is?
