I have found in the new York Passenger Lists JEMIMA MAWDSLEY and her two children, William Henry, 1909 and George A. 1910. They arrive in the USA on 7th Dec 1913.

Her husband WILLIAM MAWDSLEY did not travel with her at that time, so assumed he had sailed sometime between 1911 and 1913, I then find them in the 1920 American census, along with William`s brother Thomas and his wife.

My problem is, I am unable to find a marriage in the UK, (West Derby/Liverpool) for William and Jemima, and I am unable to find when William arrived in the States.

Any help gratefully received.

Look at "my threads" on left.
On a previous thread
Jemima went out in 1909 as a spinster.

On that 1913 arrival it says that the sons were born in America and had lived there all of their life. Jemima had been in America from 1909-1913. Evidently they had just gone to England to visit Jemima's father.

Check out the Ellis Island website. I'm sure if your look it up, you will get a link that will take you straight there. Most people that went to American went through Ellis Island (New York). It has great documents and is free. I lived in the USA for 10 years and went to Ellis Island . Well worth checking out!

Unfortunately Ellis Island records don't start until 1892 and of course doesn't cover those who sailed directly to Boston, Mass. or Philadephia, :PA.
