a birth in Oct or late Sept would fit with being pregnant when she married in April - 2/3 months pregnant?

Could be George was stillborn and won't be on FreeBMD.

You should look at the 1911 census to see how many children had been born.

The 1911 census was filled in by the householder ...... and the original records are what have been used for the transcription.

So you can blame your ancestor if names are missing or ages wrong!

If you purchase credits and look at the actual census image, you will see your ancestor's handwriting.

It would also tell you how long the parents have been married, and how many children have been born and how many died.

But it does look as though you ahve dates wrong ....... if the death and birth registrations found by Choccy are correct.

Maybe you should re-check your documentation

Many thanks for all that.I just need to find a death record now. It was interesting to see the 1911 census record---it must have been taken early in1911 because Fred Miller died in February of that year and a few days later Bert and my mother Winifred had been taken off to the railway orphanage. It's also missed off the baby Elsie ,and got most of the ages wrong----Lily was 9,Bert was 8,my mum was 7 etc.---so don't believe everything on a census form !
Thanks again,
Alison

They married in Dorset in Blandford reg district

Marriages Jun 1901
MILLER Fred Blandford 5a 497
RANDALL Helena Bessie Blandford 5a 497

so what about this birth?
Births Sep 1901
MILLER George Wimborne 5a 216

if he was born in July this qtr would cover.it
Wimbourne reg district later became Blandford

WIMBORNE REGISTRATION DISTRICT
Registration County : Dorset.
Created : 1.7.1837 (sometimes "Wimborne & Cranborne" in early listings)
Abolished : 1.4.1937 (succeeded by Blandford and Poole districts).
Sub-districts : Cranborne; Wimborne; Witchampton.
GRO volumes : VIII (1837-51); 5a (1852-1937).

so they may have lived after marriage in an area that was covered by the next reg district to where they married

I wonder if George was registered under his mother's maiden name.

I checked but couldn't find one in this district but she could have had the baby somewhere different from where they lived.

Alison Report 23 Nov 2009 10:47

According to my late mother, her mother who was Eleanor Bessie(or Helena) Randall was pregnant when she married Fred Miller in Spetisbury,Dorset on April 3rd 1901,had a boy called George but he died as a baby. Her second child,Alice Lilian, was born in July 1902. In Bessie's notebook ,where the birthdates of all her children and close relatives are written, there is "George Miller" entered in July 1901,but try as I may I can't find either a birth or death record for this child. The nearest I've found is a Frederick George Miller, born in Salisbury (where they lived) in Oct/Dec 1901,but this doesn't seem to fit the dates. I hate having mysteries that I can't solve.Have any of you brilliant ones out there got any suggestions on this one?
