Hi all
Read all this with interest. I'll have another go when I get home tonight and take a bit more time over it all.
The comments have made interesting reading though.

I would have prefered some warning as most of mine were in the deleted list and they just disappeared.
I now have only four hotmatches and one of those does not have a delete option.???

I still get good matches and I have been here 6 years. That is because you will get new matches when new people join. But I am not sure I like the new system. I agree it is quicker to delete but when you click on view and then delete and subsequently get others up it doesn't tell you if they are already a contact. And, as somebody says, if you go back to check you are thrown out of sequence again. And as has also been said you no longer can retrieve ignored matches to re-check.

I complained to GR admin but was told how much better the new system was so I guess we, as members don't have any input. (as usual)

I think it's so much better now............it used to take ages to trawl through the new hot matches! This time it took me a couple of minutes.
I think you only really get a lot of good matches when you first join up to genes, after that there are hardly any!
That's been my experience anyway and until they match up the place of birth as well as the name and year of birth I don't think it's going to get any better!

The reason it says 'No Matches' is because you have deleted it.

However, in going back to the list you are seeing the original page which is held in your PC cache, so the match still appears on it.. Hit refresh and the list will update.

I do wonder though if some members are actually missing the point of the changes. It isn't so much to do with the fact that the screen navigation has changed - although many seem to prefer the new version to the old - but that there is no longer the concept of an ignored match, which can be subsequently retrieved.

Matches are now deleted altogether, once gone you can not get them back. Have a look on the Help Page under Hot Matches, for more information.

What is amazing is that these last few changes that have been implemented, Genes performed them on the operational site & not in a trial area allowing the user to be able to try out and view those amendments BEFORE they were to become operational.

Baffled as more & more users are finding their actions questionable as they wave big red flags when encountering problems yet they proceed unhindered failing to keep us informed in what they are trying to do & fix those errors in a timely manner.

It’s as if they have blinkers & earmuffs on and they are determined to get to their particular summit, no mater what the cost.

Interesting too, ……… those of us attending group meetings about genealogy & if sites may become part of the discussion, I’m hearing more where others are trying an alternative.

The only safe way seems to be to ignore this automatic click on to the next name, and to go back to the original list every time - just like we used to.

I do find - as I did with the previous system - that names get out of order once you break off - to check a name or a place or something. I have found - and did find in the last batch - if after finishing I go back to the beginning and whizz through them again there are a number of "New!" that I haven't seen before. And when going through the list and seeing several New ones ahead, again if I break off they are not where I left them! though they usually turn up later or in my second run-through

Just had another thought, so went into HM again. This time I clicked on a previous person I matched several people with a few weeks ago.... it now tells me I have no matches with this person.
CRAZY!

Just tried this again....yes next one pops up automatically but it then says I 'have no matches with this persons tree'. If thats the case why is it showing in hot matches.
I am now confused - and tired so will have another go tomorrow and if the same thing happens I'll just forget about hot matches in the future.
If this happens to all - we will all lose out.

I don't mind the next one popping up, a real time saver, but I haven't worked out if anything shows you whether you have contacted that person before. If the match looks possible, I think you then have to go back to the main list to double check if it is "new" or not.

After I delete one of mine the next one pops up automatically.

Help, whats happend to the hot matches section. I have just gone onto it and its all changed. M problem is that after I have clicked to view the first new hot match...its not mine. I delete it as usual but then whichever one I click on to view next I keep getting the first one up.
What am I doing wrong!!!!!
