Hi

I have finally found my great grandads army service records, quite badly damaged but enough to know he was a bit of a scoundral with poor behaviour. On his records when he has been punished he has been given 7 day CB or loss of pay. Can someone please tell me what the CB stands for, as I am at a loss, and googling is not turning up anything.

Thanks
Tracie.

Don't know for certain but it probably means confined to barracks.

I've just googled and come up with this site giving abbreviations (looks like I was probably right):-

Thanks everyone so much another puzzle solved, and another opened lol. Looks like my great gramps was married before he married my great nan even though on his marriage cert he is down as a bachelor lol, think it was after he enlisted as it is scribbled on the side next of kin wife and her name and address, because on the enlistment papers his next of kin is his dad. lol, oh well here I go again would be Smith too lol.

Thanks again :-0)

CB was a mild form of punishment,
"Jankers" was a bit more serious.........
