How Do I Hide Certain Relatives

ProfilePosted byOptionsPost Date

I have access to some trees that have certain individuals hidden, but not all.

Can someone tell me how to hide certain individuals or a group or family that are on my tree.

Some one has asked me for access to my tree and I only want them to see the part which is relevant to them.

Thanks Taylor

On GR you can hide all living relatives, i.e. those born after a certain date, check the Help page for more info.

If you have a separate family tree program on your PC you can usually choose which relatives to export on your gedcom and import onto GR.

However I am not aware that you can hide certain relatives on GR from certain contacts and not from others. I.e. whoever is hidden on GR is hidden for all the people you allow to view your tree.

Thanks Helen

I've looked at the help on this topic, it looks like all relatives within 120 years will be hidden unless they have a death date.

Not sure what I'm going to do now.

I am not a fan of using "hide living relatives"
But saying that, you could use the facility and put a fictitious death date for those you want to show.

Thanks SatNav

I also hate the hidden relatives bit, your suggestion on the false death dates is great, will give it a go.

I have typed in names of living relatives individually as "living person", rather than use the blanket option. If you do use the option to hide them, they will still show up on Hot Matches.
