Someone asked earlier about the date of the 1901 census. It may be useful to know the dates of other censuses:

1841 - 7th June
1851 - 30th March
1861 - 7th April
1871 - 2nd April
1881 - 3rd April
1891 - 5th April
1901 - 31st March
1911 - 2nd April

But bear in mind that before 1911 census details were collected by enumerators over a period of several days, not by householders filling in individual forms, so the information may not relate strictly to the specific date. This is one reason why people can be missing or, conversely, appear twice on particular censuses.
