downloading family tree to disc

Can anyone help would like to download my family tree onto a disc, in case of a computer crash can anyone help

Presumably you mean your GR Tree?

Go to the bottom of the page and click on Import / Export. Follow the prompts to Export your file. GR will email it to you as an attachment in gedcom format.

Copy this onto a folder on to your PC, from where you can subsequently take a copy onto disc.
