and I found ALL my maternal line on the Mormon LDS site going back to early 1700!! Horses for courses I suppose

you are right abut locality though - you are looking for Welsh ancestry - which I am on my Dad's side, they seem to only have covered Angelsey

Make sure that you do really need the Ancestry premium service. For me it was a complete waste of money and I 'downsized' to Essentials this year.

Warren...Ancestry by far the better in my opinion (having used FMP as well). It is expensive as you really need the "Premium" membership (particularly if you have London ancestors). I had a subscription for a year and have now slowed down in my research. I now just have a monthly when I want to get stuck in again. It is about £12 which is great if you have a quiet period at home. You can save records that can be viewed later even if you haven't kept up your subscription. Be careful, though, as you have to "unsubscibe" as they will automatically carry your subscription on to the next month.

Good hunting!

regards

Chris

My local Mormon church does not have any internet access.
The nearest church with access is Portsmouth.
I use Ancestry but if I could afford it I would use Findmypast as well.
i would not recommend any other site.

Thanks Kath I am leaning towards the Ancestry site. I just wanted to make sure no one came up with any rip off stories. Thank you

For a paid site with a subscription I don't think you can beat Ancestry although others prefer Findmypast. It really depends on what you get used to and how easy you find them to use.

Why not take out Ancestry's 14 day free trial and see if you find it useful. I have had a subscription to Ancestry for the last 6 years and found it invaluable.

Has anyone got any recommendations. I am wanting access to the normal records BMD, census records etc. Thank you
