If you`ve got a copy of his birth being registered, I expect the b.cert will be issued in the same ``name`` - most laws only specify that a birth must be registered, not that the child be named.

My great-grandfather was born on 5 October 1856 in Poquonock, Connecticut, USA. I have a copy of his birth being registered, but he is only down as "male" with his parents' name (both English). Obviously they hadn't decided on a name when registering. How would I go about obtaining a copy birth certificate? The family later returned to England and are on the 1901 census. Any help gratefully received.
