Angel, if you are the adopted person, it should be much easier for you to find relatives. The system works to protect people who have been adopted, not the other way round. You might be able to search your family out yourself. I assume if this is the case you have your birth cert?

Unless the adopted person has indicated a willingness to make contact with anyone trying to trace them, there should be no way to find them.

It's not possible to trace an adopted person.

Everyone (England and Wales) is registered in the Births register in their original birth name. After a child is adopted they are then placed on the Adopted Children Register in their adoptive name and their original birth certificate will be amended and the word 'Adopted' written in one of the columns.

The Adopted Children Register (ACR) is not for public view as this links the birth and adoptive name.

However, the INDEX to the ACR is available for public view at these main libraries. It is set out pretty much like the index for BMD with no information on it.

Greater Manchester County Record Office

Birmingham Central Library

Bridgend Reference and Information Library

Plymouth Central Library

City of Westminster Archives Centre

However in order to make a search you need to know the adoptive name.

If you are a family member you can apply for contact with an Adoption Intermediary such as NORCAP or After Adoption... it is VERY expensive and can cost up to a 1000 pounds with no guarantee the adopted person wishes contact.

I'm sure it is not possible to do what you say. For obvious reasons someone who is adopted can't be found unless they want to be. A list such as you describe would be appalling really!
I believe there is a register on which they can put their name if they are hoping to be found.

What years are you talking about ? , I think the adoption register is longer available to view at FRC .
