I had an ancestor in Reading prison on the 1911, I contacted Reading Archives on line, and for £20 they are quite willing to send me the full details of his crime and punishment. perhaps you could try the same.

I believe that prison records are closed for 100 years.
So as Madmeg says local newspaper is your best bid.

Have found an ancestor on the 1911 who I believe was being detained at his majesty's pleasure! anyone know how to find out more info? Would like to know what he did.
