If you buy his marriage cert it will give you his fathers name and occupation plus Cliffords age at marriage of course.

£7 from the GRO with the ref numbers.

As posted earlier by Linda.

I googled and found this answer to that question

Channel Isles BMDs start in 1855.
There are indexed in date order (not (A-Z)) and not online.

So you need to send directly to them.
If you google for the reg offices on any of the Islands you may well find an address to write to.

You can check passenger lists on Find my Past, but after a quick look there do not seem to be any for him.

I have found the death of Clifford P.J.Le Milliere in 1963 age 50 but I can't find his birth in 1913 so I am guessing it is in the channel isles - possibly Alderney.
Could anyone look that up somewhere please or give me some clue as to how I find it? I believe he spent some time in America as well so could he be on a passenger list somewhere?
any help appreciated,
Jill

I have only just started on this family for my grandchildren's family line. There are very few Le Millieres in England and I thought he was born in the channel isles. He married in 1941 in England but they met in Alderney so that sounds promising.
Thanks a lot for that, Bren

Have you tried the 1911 census if he was born 1910/1911

The only family I can find on the 1901 census for Le Milliere live on Alderney but it comes under Guernsey for the censusetc
So if you want a birth certificate for him you would have to apply to the Registrars(Greffe)office in St Peter Port Guerney the cost is the same as the uk.But look up costs before you send off for it

I presume you have the details of his death and marriage these show up on ancestry BMDs

My dad was b in St Peter Port and his mothers family goes back to the earky 1690's on Guernsey

Thanks for that Vivienne and Linda, I'm trying to pin down the birth of a Clifford P. J. Lemilliere around 1910-1920. I looked for ages in births and have trawled 1907 - 1923 with no success, which is surprising with such an unusual name.
cheers

Also if you go to this page and scroll down, there are a couple of links, but I haven't looked at them

After googling for Channel Island bmd it would seem that you have to contact them directly. There are no online records.
