my grandmother was one of twins Mary and Elizabeth Davies i think i have found them March 1893 Swansea registered but with the same number 11a 1008.... is that the way twins are registered

11a 1008 gives the reference to a page which includes a number of people.

So if they were both recorded on the same page then they will have the same reference.

Could be but sometimes it could be cousins who were registered at the same time.Sometimes one twin may be the last entry on a page and the other first entry on following page.

The two births may not even be related to each other.

Unfortunately I can't find a family on the census with both Mary and Elizabeth - do you know who their parents are?
