I did a search on my great-great Grandfather on the London Gazette website archives and found out that he filed a petition for bankruptcy in the 1930s. We know that he was previously headmaster of a local village school. Does anyone know if there is any way to find out any more information ie. why he was made bankrupt? |

There may be something in the local paper. Also have a look at the National Archives Research Guide to Bankruptcy |
