If you look on Contacts, it DOES have a tick or a cross to show if either of you has allowed access to each others trees. It has been like this for probably two years now, and was last updated specifically to avoid any confusion.....! Tick means access allowed, cross means no access allowed.

The words View, Stop, Allow, Request are action buttons, not status messages. So, if the other person has given you access you will see the word 'View' click on that and their tree will open (it does this in a new tab / window)

If they haven't given access you will see the word 'Request' Clicking this sends a standard GR message to the other person. You may prefer to send a personal message instead.

As far as access to your tree is concerned, , if you click the word Allow, it will open your tree and send a message to the other person confirming this. Clicking the word 'Stop' will remove access to your tree. No message is sent when you do this.

It is actually straight forward once you understand it.

They might have told you that they are allowing access, but haven't clicked the right box from their end.

It is rather confusing - it says 'allow' so you think the person already has access, but that needs to be clicked, which then changes it to 'stop'! It was much easier when it had a tick or a cross.

Hi Jan and Linda I have tried both ways one just tell me they have given me accees to tree but no viewing link the other gave me a list of all the trees I have access to but this persons name was not one there. Perhaps they have not ticked something their end? So have requested again, perhaps thing will look better in the morning I do find this a very frustrating setup, links are very annoying. perhaps it is just me Thank-you both for your help

Marie, it should be in your message box I think - open the relevant message and you should see "view" for their tree.
