Preston reg district

I have just received notification from the freebmd co-ordinator of some corrections that are being applied to the database.
These are for 27 entries of births in the Preston Reg district which have been transcribed as 8c.

The district should be 8e.

That would make sense - now I think about it, I have a feeling 8c is really Prescot, which is near St. Helens. I've often wondered how they coded them, since 8b is Ormskirk (so, not far from Prescot district - I think it may be the next one along). Perhaps it's by location?
