Hi Malcolm, thanks for suggestions

Malcolm - Ancestry doesn't transcribe the occup (except 1881), so that won't work.

Try searching by profession........putting plumber or engineer in the keyword box at th bottom.

Malcolm.

MarionfromScotland,
thanks for trying - it is so frustrating when you know he is somewhere out there.

Thanks for your suggestion.

Have you tried looking for him with just his initials. He might be a patient in Hospital or Jail

Anne-Marie Report 16 Jan 2010 04:05

Elizabeth and Sylvia what a shame that it wasn't the right Edward. Thanks heaps for trying.

Yes, MarionfromScotland that is them on the 1881 census. By the 1891 census there is John widowed with son Edward and daughter Johnina. I have followed Edward's family through the censuses but not found him as I said on the 1901.
I have found the family transcribed in various census as Wible and Mable.

Many thanks to one and all for having a look for me.

ooops ..... no it isn't,

a) his occupation is wrong
b) because the 1911 says Margaret was born in Ireland, and
c) his father was called JOHN and had died in 1897

Anyway, that has ruled this one out!!!!

Elizabeth2469049 Report 15 Jan 2010 20:06

In the 1901 census there is an Edward Noble aged 30 living at 15 Newgate Street , Morpeth - south of Alnwick. He is described as a plumber and is living with his family including Thomas his father a plumber. Could it be a family firm and he was commuting during the week?

Couldn't make copy and paste work - but I found him on the GR access to the 1901 census.

Hello everyone who answered me and sorry about the delay in getting back I had unexpected visitors and had to switch off.

Barbara - thank you so much for 1911 info, Annie was my Nana.

Marinonfromscotland - His parents were John d 1897 and Mary d 1890
Margaret who is down as his mother was in fact his stepmother who was also is wife's mother.

Sylvia and Bren thank you for your input and I agree that the library edition does get slow.

So I wonder where was he!.

Bren from Oldham

Bren from Oldham Report 15 Jan 2010 11:36

There shouldn't be any difference betweeen the Ancestry editions but at times there is. The library edition at times runs very slow and you are unable to find the info you are looking for,.This makes you look as a kind of an idiot when you are supposed to be an expert in helping someone to trace their family tree
On my return from my afternoon at the Local Studies I can usually find what I have been looking for on Ancestry in a matter of minutes on my own Computer

Could anyone tell me please is the 1901 census on the Ancestry edition that you use in the public libraries any different from what you get if you purchase an ancestry subscription?

I have tried every permutation I can think of trying to find my Great-grandfather Edward Noble b 1869 Newcastle upon Tyne. I have found his wife Henrietta living in Alnwick with their two children but no Edward. He didn’t die until 1953 and was with his wife until she died in 1952. His occupation was engineer so he could have been working way from home.
