Agreed..............and when you do contact them, all you get is......

"your message is being passed to our.......gobbledegook ....team for consideration", and nothing is ever heard of it again.

Tsk. As my brother used to say back in the 60s: As if! (He also thought it was the height of insult to follow me and my best friend down the street, when he was outraged we would not take him with us or some such, shouting "pregnant!" at us.)

Email alerts for posts on threads would drive me bonkers. That's what My Threads is for! But since management doesn't bother to draw My Threads to anyone's attention (I was lucky way back when that I read about it in a thread somewhere), email alerts -- with an on/off option -- would be an excellent idea.

So many excellent ideas for operating this site, so much indifference from the people who run it.

Oh Janey! When I read the beginning of your post ...

....Please email site management whenever you encounter stupidity like this .......

I thought you meant the dialogue between Sylvia and myself! lol

On a serious note - do you think the members on this site would benefit from email alerts when replies are posted on threads? It would certainly save me a lot of time!

Frank, my hero! I have absolutely no idea of which IE I am on. Must make a foray into this question I suppose. I just find it very frustrating to click on an incoming message to be confronted by this white page of yak.

Thank you kind sir.

Very strange our Cynthia,
the text above is all of the top two lines of the messages page including the "my messages ? help"
Perhaps GR is updating the site and messing about with the settings................

Are you still on IE6 or IE7 or IE8 as I have just moved on to IE8 and notice that when editing text here on GR , the post keeps moving up and down on each key press....really annoying.

Hi. Ghost or no ghost I just wonder why it happens!

It's not the content which annoys me, it's the format - I have to keep scrolling down to find the incoming message.

Some days I get the normal format, other days it can vary between the two.

Maybe it has something to do with the phase of the moon!!! lol

Occasionally, when I click on my messages to read an incoming message, I get the following page (it can also happen when I go to send a message too). It's on a white background and all printed down the left hand side. What's that all about? Thanks.
