Heres another tip.........
getting to the latest page of a long thread can be tedious.
so

assume a thead is 61 pages long......open the first page and note the number of pages, now in the browser bar it will give the thread number ( as described in earlier posts.....)
now: place curser in browser bar at end of the thread number and click
twice slowly, then add
&px=60

this number is 1 less than the number of pages

and it should open at the last page by itself, if not click the curly arrows at the right hand side of the bar,
NOW
this " Address" is now kept in the bar, and next time all you need do is look in the browser bar and highlight it
I Know it sounds long winded, but it works.......
specially on threads like the A-z's

Julia

I don't usually open a new window

I just copy the address as given, and then highlight the address that is in the Address line up above.

Paste the new address ..... and click GO

The only problem if you have not opened another window is that it replaces the thread that you are looking at with the thread that you have been directed to, and you cannot go backwards and forwards between them

Opening a new window allows you to do that .......................... I usually have at least 4 windows open at any one ................. GR, ancestry, freebmd/fmailysearch, and one other for chat sites .... and switch back and forwards between them as needed.

thanks Helen - thought there was some way of finding it when already logged into GR but your reply makes complete sense

open up a new tab or window in your internet browser and copy and past the http etc into the address bar at the top, it should take you straight to the thread

When someone puts up a post which refers to a previous thread e.g. http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=1198***
how do you actually locate it using the thread number?
I keep seeing these messages and can't work it out
