Is there anyway to bring up a record of a family household without having to buy credits. I just want to sort the birth order of the siblings to put on my tree, I managed it once before, but don't know how I did it. And now I can't do it at all.
Thanks Taylor

The free search involves going to Full Person Search

Then to Advanced Search

Put the names of one of the people into the search fields, age, birth place

Search

If he/she comes up, note EXACTLY what it says for spelling of names, and location

Go back to Advanced Search

enter surname, clear everything else

Enter County and Place Name exactly as was on the record you found

Under Other Persons enter the forename(s) exactly as shown

If you are lucky, this will bring up the other members of your family, and only those members

If not

You may have to find the records of 2 members, then enter the names of those two into Other Persons

If this fails ....... ask for help on here, several people now have subscriptions and are willing to help

Thanks SatNav

Wow, that gives me lots to think about.

As to find my past I have seen insturctions given by another Genes member and it gave the web address but it didn't come up it just took me to the Official 1911 website, I followed the instructions and I found Lydia born 1900 so followed further instructions and it came up no matches found. Obviously I am doing something wrong. I will keep trying though as I am sure I will need to use it again.
Can you tell me when in 2011 we will be able to view the Census.
Thanks once again, I really appreciate your help.

Hi Taylor
There is a thread which explains how to use 1911 online but myself I find it easier to use findmypast. They are both the same database but use different search methods.
The household search that I did took less than five minutes on findmypast but I think it would be nigh impossible on 1911online.
I am not sure if I understand your last query. The census is available now.

Sorry SatNav
I mean without having to pay for it, and so we can get the full details such as relationship to head of house, occupation etc.

Jonesey has a thread towards the bottom of this page (currently) which may help.

There was also a loophole a while back but that has been closed now.

I use the official 1911 site .......... and can do the same search that you did

The instructions I gave Taylor were for use on www.fmpbsol.1911census.co.uk/

we all have our own preferences don't we!
