OFFERED for a few weeks ( 'til sorted !), ..my Hampshire born labourers, who are causing me problems.
Any takers? !!

What I have....
Emily POWELL of full age, daughter of Mark a labourer, married in 1845 in Southampton Register Office,
Witnesses were Ann DOBBS and Thomas WALKER

Emily married George JONES, a labourer, son of James JONES ,a labourer.
George and Emily were of full age at marriage.

Emily died in Southampton in 1855, shown on cert as 35.
In 1851 census Emily is shown as b. Durley
BUT
I have sat in Record Office in Winchester and gone through PRs and her baptism does not feature in that parish.

IGI ...submitted record, shows the baptism of an Emily POWELL daughter of Mark and Elizabeth in 1817 in Bishopstoke, Hants.
Could this be my Emily?

Interesting - Durley is very small village near Bishopstoke and it would be possible the family living between the two villages. The christian name of Mark as the father is reasonably unusual so it would seem unlikely that there would be two of the same name in such close proximity

Have you looked in the census for the other childen of the couple on the same submitted record as listed below. They may also give their birthplaces as Durley in censuses. There is also an earlier potential sibling born 1814 in Portsea.

Good Luck Kay

Kay
Thank you for your ideas.
I haven't found George or Mary Ann in 1851 yet. Mary Ann may be married of course.

Emily did name 2 of her children George and Mary Ann, but they are not unusual, so that may just be coincidence.
