Blossom
To correct a transcription error of thename of a person on the 1911
click on the name and you will see that it will list other names on the list.
Then you can correct the name.
There is a drop down menu in the field to change beside the name. It will then list all the things you might want to change
i.e First name
Surname etc.
I've not explained this very well but if you click on the name you will see what I mean.
I've done loads of changes on the 1911 and they've all been changed.
Hope this helps

I did a report error using the yellow box for my grandmother Constance Ruby Douglas. They had it as Constance Ridley Douglas.

I got a message back to say they agreed and changed the name a few weeks later

I put her place of birth St Johns Chapel and it came up as non showing
The transcipt has Durham St Johns Chapel.

Jonesey - many thanks. Can I ask another question to which you may know the answer?

How do you make a transcription change to the 1911? On the form it seems to list every individual twice. Do I fill in both lines with the new information? Or do I leave one line with the original info and the 2nd line with the new info?

Chrissie - I agree. I have just tried putting in Casbard with no first name and have got the man I want. If I put in William Casbard I get him - if I put in William Alfred I don't, which is strange as he is down as William Alfred.

Hi Blossom,

I have found that when searching through FMP 1911 census, less is more. I always search the official site first then use FMP. On occasions I have found some entries on FMP that didn't show on the official site.

I think I agree with you Jonesey.

I did eventually find my William Alfred by searching by address. I didn't realise that there were three families living at the same number house in the same street. The upshot though was that I found William's father and sister as well, so have printed that off as well.

I think it will just take time to get used to it.

EDIT - Thank you for that last tip - I will remember to do that.

I'm completely confused (which doesn't take much).

I have just subscribed to the 1911 census for 12 months for £59.95 through FMP. I have just tried to search for my gt grandfather William Alfred Casbard and each time it comes up as zero results. If I try the same search through the 1911 census website, I get the result I want. I know the result is right because I actually paid for the transcript some time ago when I was paying for credits.

Why is there the discrepancy?
