Elizabeth2469049 Report 22 Jan 2010 19:32

Among the information given to the thread "New On" - just nudged up - there is a reference to the Family Search work on the Bishops Transcripts for Northumberland and Durham. I have clicked around for ages on Family Search but can't find these- I am particularly interested in pre-census parish records for North Northumberland. Please can anyone tell me the procedure?

Go to any of your usual LDS links, say:

http://www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp

and in the blue bar at top, select Search Records - Record Search Pilot.
A new window opens, and under the search screen, in tiny letters is the link "Browse our record collections". The European link is where the Durham Bishop's Transcripts are.

Alternatively it's:

http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=allCollections;r=1

many thanks to you both - I have just spent hours (fruitlessly) looking for a particular marriage, but this is an on-line facility I didn''t know we had and I expect to use it a lot in the future

Hi Liz

I found this site a couple of months ago and have found part of my family I had been unable trace. It opened up a whole new part of my family for me.

Good luck with your searching.
