I have just purchased the above and pleased with it so far!
However can anyone suggest where I record the census source details as I don't think I'm doing it right. Should I record it in the 'person note' or in a specific source?
Thanks in advance for any replies but I won't be back online until the morning now. Small puppy to care for.

I use FTM 2005 and put the census addresses and occupation in the notes for the male partner ,To me this reads better when doing a genealogy print out

I do it slightly differently using Facts. These have a date and a place / description field so are ideal. I use two for this Census Address and Occupation

So you get

Census Address 1851 22 Bold Street, Honley
Census Address 1861 46 High Street, Lockwood
Occupation 1851 Coal Miner
Occupation 1861 Cloth Finisher

and you just keep adding as many as you need

Things like Baptism / Christening details are also added in this way

Christening 20th March 1862 St Margaret, Holmfirth

BMD details go in the Notes. You can easily cut and paste the details from Free BMD to save some typing and then format it as you want. I do it on the lines of

Deaths Jan - Mar 1902
Huddersfield 9a 123
Aged 56

Thank you both for these tips.
I will certainly consider putting the sources in the 'facts' section as suggested by InspectorGreenPen.

The advice I would give is to decide on a system then stick with it. This way your reports will all look consistent.

As far as Reports are concerned, FTM will allow you to print as much as as little of the information you are recording.

Click on the Items to Include button to choose what you want to see or leave out.

By using a fact called something like Census Address, you only have to include this one fact in your reports, and it will automatically appear for each census you have added data for. It is far more flexible that using separate facts such as 1841 Census, 1851 Census etc as you then have to include each one individually and it becomes much more cumbersome to manage.

InspectorGreen Pen.
Thank you for your suggestion about the census 'fact'. I'm still ploughing through the 'little book of Answers' which came with the FTM 2010 so will look at doing this.

I record the census details as a source, then using the copy function, record the individuals details in their notes box (saves typing it out twice). I then link that source to each person mentioned on that census. So when looking at the Source I see the census for the whole address, which is useful when more than one family or extended family are at the same address. But by copying the individuals details into their notes box I can see at a glance where they have been their entire lives and anything in the notes box comes through when I transfer the gedcom onto GR.

Thanks again for the replies.
I must be doing something wrong though as I don't seem able to copy the source of the census I want to save into a family members notes.
Could you explain in details for me as to how I do this in real simple terms please as it would save me a lot of time.
Thanks again
