Help needed please - On the 1911 census it shows Violet Pike b. 1893 Kensington, Housemaid, living with the Gerard Family, (and others) but I cant find this Violet Pike in 1901 census (ie.,born Kensington) - If anyone knows who she is or has any suggestions please let me know as I would be very grateful, with many thanks

Do you think the place of birth could be wrong on the 1911 census because I can't find a Violet Pike birth in Kensington for 1893 +/- 2 years (unless you already have the birth certificate).

There's a Violet Back on the 1901 census born 1893, Kensington. Do you suppose somebody mis-heard her name?

Hi Kathleen and Margaret

Well I'm not sure, I'm looking for Violet Pike born 1893/1894 and there are a few candidates in 1901 census, and I know my Violet was a maid in London in 1916 but I don't know where she was born. When I found this one in 1911 census I thought it could be her, but I can't find a corresponding one in 1901?

Do you know who her parents were? Do you have her marriage certificate or know who she married?

Kate, no unfortunatley I don't, she gave birth to my relative so I have his birth cert, it only gives her name, address and what she did for a living.
I've not found anyone with her (full) name in the birth registers.

My relatives birth records say she was 23 in 1916 when she had him in London. She didn't keep him as he was illegitimate.

thanks Rose, I'll remember next time I want to post to check what I've put on before..

As I've not got anywhere with this particular relative I thought I would see if anyone else could suggest anything as I've been trying for 6 years to find the elusive lady without any success!.... its proving a difficult nut to crack.
kind regards, Linda

Thanks Steve, what a find on the dob - thanks for this, I will delve into this one certainly. As 'mother' on the child's birth cert she gave her name as Violet Florence Pike, but I've never found a birth registration for this name.

many thanks for your help, much appreciated fresh pair of eyes!

Your very welcome Linda.

I still can't find a birth record for her, either as Ivy or Violet.

But this appears to be her marriage in 1916;

London, England, Marriages and Banns, 1754-1921
Name: Ivy Violet Pike
Age: 23
Estimated birth year: abt 1893
Spouse Name: Frederick Wilson..........Occupation Soldier
Spouse Age: 26
Record Type: Marriage
Event Date: 9 Jul 1916
Parish: Saint Peter, Battersea
County: Middlesex
Borough: Wandsworth
Father Name: Frederick George Pike.................Cabinet Maker (deceased)
Spouse Father Name: Frederick Emma Wilson.........Tailor (deceased).......Also his middle name appears to be Ennis, not Emma

Residence at time of marriage 27 Daniens Rd......or Daniew Rd?

I'd suggest looking to see if Ivy Violet Pike is in the 1911 census.

Regards,
Steve
