Oo, that could be possible. I believe St Mary's Stockport was the parish church for Hyde at one point. I have had other Hyde dwelling ancestors marry there. I shall have a closer look at that one, thank you!

This is a long shot....a marriage

Name: Peter Bury
Year of Registration: 1871
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
District: Stockport
County: Cheshire, Lancashire
Volume: 8a
Page: 126 (click to see others on page)

To Hannah Hurst..

Edit..perhaps not after checking on Cheshirebmd this marriage took place at St Mary's Stockport and not in Hyde.

Thanks SatNav, I have all the details for that Calland family. But even getting all the details for both those Anns does not prove a thing. I'd still be no closer to finding which one was correct.

The marriage between Ann Hurst and Peter Berry is what I need to find, but I do not know how to go about it.

For later
marriage
Esther Calland 1845 Manchester (1837-1924) Lancashire

Maybe you need to find both Ann's

Hello
Yes, I get her maiden name from her daughter's birth certificate.

SatNav - yes, those look like the census returns I have found. But I want to prove the link between my Ann Berry nee Hurst who married Peter Berry, and the Ann Hurst who appears in those census returns as neice/daughter/granddaughter. At the moment I am just guessing they are the same person, based on it looking like a decent match in terms of dates and places. I don't know how to move forward.

Thanks

Did you get her maiden name from the childrens birth cert?

I can find a few Peter Berry marriages but none to an Ann Hurst

Have you the birth cert. of one of her children?

Hello
I am looking for some advice. I have an ancestor called "Ann Hurst". Ann's age and place of birth are given on the census as:

1881 - born 1848 Cheshire Hyde
1891 - born 1845 Cheshire Newton
1901 - born 1847 Cheshire Hyde

A search of births on Free BMD 1845 to 1848 shows two likely candidates:
Apr/May/Jun 1847 in Stockport
Apr/May/Jun 1848 in Stockport

A on Cheshire BMD 1845 to 1848 also shows two likely candidates:
1847 in Hyde
1848 in Stockport

My question is, if you were me, what would be your next move? I could get both birth certificates, but that wouldn't tell me which was the correct Ann. By 1881 she is known as Ann Berry and her eldest child is 7 months old. I have searched for a marriage between Ann Hurst and Peter Berry (who was also born in Hyde) but cannot find one listed anywhere. How do I find it? And if I cannot find it, are there any other ways I can find out who she was?

Many thanks!
