The Social Security Death Index is really only hlpeful for those who died after about 1950.

For anyone before that you need a bit more information. When did they emigrate? From a passenger list you might be able to find a destination listed, though this may not be their final destination, but it may help.

Using historical data you may be able to track their progress across the country using the Census.

I'm in the States and I would gladly help you if I can. I'm a lot more familiar with US hunts than the ones I need in Ireland and Great Britain.
