You can still search the full indexes on Ancestry, its just a bit fiddlier than it used to be.

Births, Marriages, Deaths Index
then click on the year range you want
then I think on the right, there's block called "browse the index" or something similar
you have to choose year, quarter and first initial and then trawl
so not as easy as it used to be where you could bring up all thematching pages for a year range and then look at each but still possible

I've asked Ancestry more than once to give us back the old style manual search and have explained to them in detail why its better ... I live in hope!

I thought I was doing something wrong as I couldn't find what I was looking for. Thanks for letting me know.

all the deaths have been transcribed to 2005 so you should be able to search on a name.
searching the full indexes are no longer available

I did that but it would only give me the deaths that have been transcribed. I wanted to search the full index.

On home page, on right hand side, Birth Marriage Death Indexes, then Deaths 1916-2005.

I want to look for a death from 1936 but can't seem to find it on Ancestry. It's a while since I did any searching and I wonder if someone could remind me how to do it.
Thank you
