there is also something called the Cheshire Parish Register Project - google it

I was told earlier this week that the Cheshire parish records are online here:

http://fsbeta.familysearch.org

I have had a play and it's brilliant - even better than Lancashire opc - they are searchable and you can click on and look at and save a copy of the original record.

You are welcome Linda - I am spending far too long on there!

Found my Ann Harriet Dutton (1775) on there last night - spelt Ann Areat Dutton. She transcribed as Ann Dutton in the parish records (gave up on middle name) and A...Nasrat Dutton in the BTs. Fortunately you can search on just surname and year or I would never have found her.

Hope you find who you are looking for

I am Christine (above) just rejoined so had lost my community name!

Oh heck, Christine and Bren, I am now going to have to spend the next fortnight looking at these sites. That means no dinner for anyone, no cleaning, no shopping, none of the other.

Christine, how did you find out about that site?

The website address for Cheshire Parish Register Database mentioned above is...

http://www.csc.liv.ac.uk/~cprdb/

Sadly limited to only a few areas however an excellent site for those who are lucky...that includes me lol.

If anyone is looking for a possible will ....Cheshire Records Office have a website where you can search and order online..

http://www.cheshire.gov.uk/Recordoffice/Wills/

A copy costs £3 plus postage. I found 2...the earliest being 1801....and an absolute bargain for the price!

May I add my thanks to Christine for the link to the the family search site.

I have been able to take my Cheshire family back another two generations as far as 1740 and in some cases there are scans of the original parish records. Absolutely brilliant.

The fsbeta site is great, but does anyone know why the images aren't viewable at the moment? I could get them at first but not all this week, and the image itself has more info on

Many thanks Christine for the link to the fsbeta site...I think, after 5 years of searching, I have found the baptism of my OH's 3x gt grandmother, several possible siblings plus 4x gt grandparents!!

Sarah...I am getting no images either...it is so frustrating...possibly a glitch on the site I hope! We will just have to be a little patient I guess : )))
