Thanks for that, I have the names of his parents and siblings, plus his mother's maiden name and her brothers. Plus where HE was born, which was in the 30s - I have pm'd a couple of people here that seem to match, but here's hoping.

I have two memberships for different families but I cannot afford both,so one is free. This can make life difficult.
There is no problem putting living people in either tree but some people hide living relatives(see my account)
The only thing that makes members upset is publishing results for living people,on a thread.

Hi Brigitte, whilst looking for living people does require a different degree of caution, many people use this site for that purpose and will help with things like electoral roll look ups.

PS if the persons are living , it is better not to put their name on the board probably, but to ask for help and then send details in a PM

Hello all.

I have joined for two reasons, one to see if I can trace my own tree, but also to help an elderly man who is not computer literate trace his family. I would love to re-unite him with long lost relatives before he passes away, and he has asked me to try and help find them. The reason I have posted this is because I would like to know about using this site to trace another person's family, and if it is ok to dual search for my own!!! I fell foul of the rule regarding living people on a previous forum and really don't want to make the same mistake again!!

Cheers
