is there a way i can check police records , my great grandfather was a police constable , he married in the liverpool lancashire area so assume that would have been the area he worked

if he was lancashire police you could try this site

http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/education/record_office/records/police.asp

If he was Liverpool, Liverpool police records only really exist from about 1861

this is the email I used for Liverpool, though it may have changed as it was over 2 years ago, but worth a try (I do have an address as well if you want it)
