Linda. No need to look for Polly. Polly used to be a nickname for someone called Mary.

Okay Kath, thanks. I'll continue to look for the lost Polly Parsons then.

I have just realised that on the transcription Ancestry has named all of them as Parsons, but on the image the first family are Parsons and the second family are Chappell. It is just a mistake by the person transcribing the census images.

Edit - I think someone may have submitted a correction to Ancestry but have got the names mixed up.

Hi Kath,
If that's the case why are the "2nd family" listed as Parsons on the initial record (not the original record.

Elizabeth Chappell and the others named as Chappell are a completely separate family living at the same address. Elizabeth Chappell is married but her husband is obviously not at home on census night. They are not connected to the Parsons family, unless Elizabeth is the married sister of Charles W. Parsons. She is definitely not his wife.

I was searching 1891 Census for Mary Parsons 1890 Camberwell, Father Charles William Parsons 1856, mother Mary Ann c1858.
On the basic record it shows the family I'm looking for plus 4 new members all listed surname Parsons but when I look at the full record it is detailed as two wives. There is a second name in brackets shown but Charles Henry 1882 (my grandfather) did have a sister Polly who is listed under the other name.
Can someone explain why this would be please.
Thank you.
