Seeking a few pointers from the GR family of experienced genealogists.

What to do next when your online UK research "stalls",and you live in Australia ie.cannot visit Records Offices etc. ?

Two main reasons for the "stall" :

- Several branches of my family [starting c 1800] with
considerable numbers of offspring,do not have any
descendants actively involved in research ie.dozens of prospective names do not appear in any of the family trees on either GR or Ancestry.com

-"SENT" messages to some possible contacts remain
unopened from between 6 and 10 months.

Needless to say,I have followed all the leads I can find
via family trees and have posted some threads on the message boards - the latter yielding some valuable
tips and info.

I would appreciate some insights.

You could sign on to a mailing list where you can post your queries.
Most counties have one - I'm signed up to Lancs which is quite active.

Drill down at: http://www.genuki.org.uk/

to see stuff like:
E-mail lists:

* LANCSGEN, a mailing list for anyone with a genealogical or historical interest in the county of Lancashire etc,
