Has anyone come across this before:-

Two brothers Thomas and Henry, born in the 1870's. Birth certificate for Thomas show his name as Thomas Francis Willmore, however marriage cert shows him as Thomas Webster
Willmore. Similarly with his brother Henry, on his marriage cert he becomes Henry Webster Willmore. There are no Websters in the family, so why do you think this name was adopted?

Has this happend to anyone else?

Thanks
Susan

I would imagine that the Webster name comes from possibly Georges mother.... often a maiden name of one of the former mothers (Grandmother) was added to a name so the name was carried on.........however it would normally have been added at birth registration or baptism, but maybe she was a notable lady and the link with the family would be of some use???
