I've just noticed the IOW FHS has now added the actual dates of all marriages as well as the name of the church to their BMD if anyone is interested.

I cant see the marriage dates on there today so I hope its just a glitch!!.

Update 14.2.2010.. I wrote to the IOW FHS and they said "The full date was thought to be OK but the registrar objected and it had to be changed back to the year only"

Oh that's a shame, Jenny. Glad that I sat up and grabbed all the ones that I could find when I did then! No doubt the registrar could see a loss of revenue due to people not having to buy their certs at £7 a pop! At least the index still identifies the church - and if it's CoE and before 1910 you can get a copy of the register entry for 20p a sheet from the records office.
