Yes it is a great site. I found out recently that you don't need to know what area your relative came from because you can search the whole county. On the home page - left hand side - click on 'search'

I've been there too and have found a lot of my ancestors there that let me trace further back from the census data. It's a real goldmine.

Yes, the Lancs site is especially good. I use it regularly for searching North Meols (now Southport) where my wife has ancestors.
