I have seen an Index of Wills at my local Reference Library, but I didn't know anything about a Death Duty Register.
Where do I find details of this please? Is there anything online?

Thanks,
Tess

No - you can't view copies of wills free in London. You can look at the entry in the index but you still have to buy the copy for £5 if you want to see the will.
The index entry alone can be quite useful though. It normally gives the date and place of death, and the names of the executors which can be helpful in establishing/confirming family relationships.

Patricia

If there is an entry in the death duty registers then there may be other entries in 'taxation' records

I have two Sarah's one born 1833 and /Sarah Elizabeth born 1875.
Joseph was husband to Sarah. So might one be of use to you.

Well, I wonder if he is related to me?

I have Nuttalls all over Manchester, but the only Joseph is still alive, age nearly 99. I have a Sarah born 1859. Any chance?
