It could also be that the woman had been married before so she would marry in her current surname, however her childrens births will only show the surname with mmn and no ref to a previous marriage as it would irrelevant to a child of the new marriage

Hi Linda,

I've had a good look about... no doubt you did the same, and not turned anything up.

So, either they just didn't marry, or one of them was already married and unable to marry due to the fact that the previous spouse was still living and they were unable to afford to divorce???

i am trying to look for a marriage of two people c 1940 - 50 only have surnames
grooms name is RIPPON
Brides name is LARGE

This would have been in the liverpool area of lancashire.
i have the birth details on ancestry of 3 children - surnames Rippon and mothers maiden name Large so i am trying to find the marriage of a RIPPON and LARGE

I know its not much to go on and could send for a birth cert but its not my family its for a friend and wanted to see if i could find the marriage without it costing her.
thanks linda
