How can I find a street on the 1871 census?

Going by the baptism details of his children I believe my ancestor James Stewart was living at 6 Queen Street, Whitechapel, London in 1871, but searching by name has drawn a blank. I'd like to look at the census record for the street to see if he's there under a wrongly-spelled name. But how do I do that?

Queen Street was a short side street at the junction of Minories and Royal Mint Street, situated between the Mint and the Tower of London. I don't know the registration district.

Any ideas?

can be done but very tedious.

You have to look at the enumerator's descriptions of the District untill you find the the street mentioned, For 1871 -London-Whitechapel- there are 3 sub districts Goodman's Fields, Whitechapel Church and Whitechapel North .

When and where was James born?

He may come up on a search on Findmypast.

If you search for Queen St it brings up far too many as no numbers are given.

Unless you have a document dated very close to the date the census was taken how can you be sure they were living at that address

Tree on Ancestry has this family (I think it's the same family).

Children born in Ireland, including one born in 1872 in Ireland, so perhaps they were not in UK for 1871 census.

CHRISTINE YOU'RE A GENIUS!!!! Thank you so much. My great grandfather John had always told tales of an idyllic childhood in rural Ireland - now I can see that it was all 'Blarney'. You've also found my great great grandmother Sarah Sheehan who I can now add to my tree. I consider myself to be a fairly good researcher but I bow to your superior skills.

I'm no genius, lol.

They came up easily using name variants and the parents names matched the baptism Glitter found
.
Hopefully you should be able to find the image now on Ancestry.
