Once I have a copy of someones tree and have a match to my own, am I able to copy and paste some of their info to mine without affecting their tree? and if so how?

I would think you would be able to as someone I had opened my tree to made copies of my photos without asking my permission and put them on her tree.

You do have to be mindful that their info may not be accurate. It is always best to research any info given by someone else to make sure it is right before adding to your tree. Out of courtesy always check that they are happy for you to copy their information. I now no longer open my tree but happily provide relevant info advising where I've got the information from.
